DIY Valentine’s Banner

Isn’t this Valentine’s banner the cutest?! Initially, I made it to just use as a photo prop, but I love it so much that I plan to use it to decorate our house for Valentine’s Day. We don’t go crazy with V-day décor by any means, but I thought it would look cute draped over our mirror that hangs above our credenza. It’s super quick and easy to make too! So here’s what you’ll need to create your own:

  • Wooden hearts {Any local craft store or the craft section at Walmart}
  • Scrap book paper
  • Drill/Small bit
  • Twine
  • Glue

First, you’ll trace your hearts on the scrap book paper. Once you do that you can cut the shapes out and then glue them onto your wooden hearts. After I finished, I used a paper towel to really rub the paper into the wood and smooth out any bubbles.

Next you will drill two holes into each side of the heart. Drill at medium speed as to not split the wood in the back. If you don’t have a drill or just don’t want to take this extra step, you can hot glue your twine onto the back, the twine just won’t be as secure.

Once you are finished with that step, you will string your twine through the back of the hearts. {So through the front on the right side and out through the back on the left side.}

Such a fun and simple project to add a little touch to your holiday décor! You could make this without the wooden heart pieces {and then just use a hole punch for the holes} but I wanted something that I could store without the chance of it crinkling up. You could hang this on your fire place, over a mirror, picture frame, or over a window pane if you use them for décor in your home. It’s the simple touches that make areas of your home really pop.

Have fun and happy crafting!
