    When What You Have Is Finally Enough

    This bedroom has served many purposes in its short time of housing us. It was Addison’s bedroom when we first moved in, the walls once covered in tall flower decals much suited for a 3-year-old. When I finally became pregnant with Brody 3 years later, my husband and I decided to move Addie into the playroom where she’d have access to the attic that would eventually become her playroom. My husband worked hard on making Addie’s new room fit our then 6 year old’s standards.     Ripping off the Band-Aid

    I couldn’t find anything to wear that morning. I was frantically throwing clothes around my bedroom knowing that I didn’t have any more time to spare before racing to work. It was supposed to be warm that day so I dumped my Tupperware tote full of summer clothes out onto my bedroom floor and there laid my wardrobe from the last two summers. I could barely catch my breath as dreadful memories flooded my mind. Patterned, spaghetti strap dresses that once fit my perfectly round belly and shorts now 4 sizes too big merited as a painful reminder of what once was; of what was supposed to be.

    I Surrender

    My husband and I ran our first 5k together today. I welled up with tears as I crossed the finish line. Not because I knew I placed among the first 10, but because two months ago this was not possible. Two months ago I laid in a hospital bed in the ICU unsure if I was coming home to my family.
